It’s only October, and some may argue it’s too soon to be talking about next year, but if Starbucks can sell PSLs (pumpkin spice lattes) in August, we can talk 2025 conferences now. Here are 10 of the technology and innovation events our software developers and product managers are especially excited about:
- Consumer Electronics Show (CES) – January 7-10, Las Vegas – This massive annual tech show is THE place to experience leading-edge technologies; see the latest and greatest in products and prototypes; and learn from (and network with) industry innovators. Here are just a few of the headliners from CES 2024, courtesy of Wired.
- Developer Week (DevWeek) – February 11-23, San Francisco Bay Area – Developer Week is a conference and expo that digs deep into new and emerging technologies (think AI, AR / VR, microservices, blockchain, etc.) – but specifically with software engineers in mind. Bonus! The event also includes hackathons, which not only provide awesome opportunities to problem solve and collaborate, but can also be great ways to meet (and learn from) other developers.
- Vive – February 16-19, Nashville – Vive focuses exclusively on digital healthcare and the innovative ways technology is being used to optimize care delivery, improve patient and provider satisfaction, streamline business operations, and accelerate clinical research. This year’s speaker lineup includes leading tech voices from OpenAI, Microsoft, Optum Health, GE Healthcare, Eli Lilly, and Google Health (among many, many others).
- Code BEAM America – March 6-7, San Francisco – Code BEAM America is the major North American event for Erlang and Elixir users – and the Revelry team LOVES Elixir! It’s big enough to assure attendees get to learn about the latest and greatest coming from the community, but also small enough (or maybe focused enough) that there’s plenty of time to network in meaningful ways and even get feedback on projects.
- New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) – March 24-29, New Orleans – This week-long event is one of our favorites each year, because it shines the spotlight on the innovators, entrepreneurs, and early-stage investors who make NOLA (and greater Louisiana) such a special place. From panels and pitch contests to after-hours events and live music, NOEW is always a good time.
- GigCity Elixir – May 9-10, Chattanooga, TN – Gig City Elixir is a small, but thoughtfully executed regional event held each year in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We love it for its focus on our programming language of choice, and for the space it creates for deep dives into specific case studies and projects in development.
- ElixirConf EU – May 15-16, Krakow – This is Europe’s largest Elixir conference and considered something of an annual “Super Bowl” event by software engineers worldwide. It frequently includes members of the core teams of Elixir’s biggest frameworks (like Jose Valim) and is a hub for announcements of new features and developments.
- Front End of Innovation (FEI) – May 19-21, Boston – FEI is another big one. We especially appreciate that it provides a variety of opportunities for business strategy, innovation, and technology professionals at all levels to network and learn about opportunities and resources related to next-gen digital products and services.
- ElixirConf US – August TBD, Orlando – See #7 above. ElixirConf US delivers equally impressive star power and learning opportunities, but without the jet lag.
- PDMA Inspire Innovation Conference – September 13-16, Chicago – This annual event, hosted by the Product Development and Management Association, focuses (surprise!) entirely on product innovation and the product managers, designers, developers, and marketers who make the magic happen. The conference program is equal parts practical, tactical, and inspirational – with plenty of time reserved for one-on-one conversations and networking.
