Born and raised in Mid-Michigan, Todd studied management information systems and business administration after a decade of working in the hospitality business.
Self-taught building websites on Geocities, he found a niche optimizing websites for Google after realizing the power of targeting a keyword niche with commercial intent.
He developed a passion for building websites for small business owners -- Helping plan, develop, and market websites. Learning on the fly to help different types of businesses, he developed a better understanding of the challenges businesses face, and how to address those problems with effective SEO strategies. Working for the "Internet Marketing Ninjas" - Todd developed his skills further in SEO, and built affiliate websites that were developed and ultimately sold including CollegeDegree.com, and others in the education and financial industries. Despite an introverted nature, he "let the fear pass through" to become a speaker on SEO at international conferences like SMX, Pubcon, Search Engine Strategies, Dreamforce, and others. While living in San Francisco, he helped develop a white-labeled SEO education and training system for MarketMotive. He's done SEO consulting and training for over a decade. He's been obsessed with Google since the first days of Web Position Gold. When he's away from the keyboard, he is likely fishing for snook and redfish in the Everglades or kite fishing for sailfish offshore.
